The eastern channel is impounded by an old milling structure and the western channel through Otford may be more suited as the main channel. Getting the right flow split between the two channels hasthe potential to address fish passage and rehabilitate habitats to provide greater biodiversity. Further investigation reguired to address fish passage, modification or removal of structures to reduce impoundment and rehabilitate upstream habitats. Work with the Environment Agency and landowners to identify prefered option and a cost beneficial solutions which can be taken forward.
